Job Summary
Assists Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, and Speech Therapists as needed for daily patient care. Maintains a clean and organized work area; disinfects equipment and maintains daily/weekly cleaning logs and temperature logs; performs clerical duties as needed.
Essential Functions
The essential functions listed below are general examples and not a description of comprehensive duties. May be asked to perform other duties as assigned.
- Assist with caring out individually designed treatment programs developed by a licensed therapist. Monitors the patient's pain response and advises supervising therapist of any changes for possible reassessment.
- Assists patients in use of appropriate assistive devices and DME per therapist instruction. Safely transports patients and assists in patient transfers and bed positioning as a second assist. Uses critical thinking to determine how to safely "hand off" patients to the next therapist.
- Maintains a clean and organized workplace, proper inventory levels, disinfects equipment and work areas, maintains daily/weekly cleaning logs, does appropriate temperature checks. Maintains proper linen supply and changes linen bags when 2/3 full.
- Performs clerical duties as needed, including but not limited to, monitoring inventory, supply ordering, messages, charges, and general needs at the time.
- Participates in department and organizational quality improvement and patient satisfaction performance improvement programs.
- Works toward department finance success factors by minimizing waste, keeping department supplies and equipment in working condition and following department timekeeping policies
- Maintain Productivity standards for direct patient care.
- Employee must perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the C-I-CARE Standards of the Hospital. C-I-CARE is the foundation of Stanford Healthcare - ValleyCare's patient-experience and represents a framework for patient-centered interactions
Job Qualifications
Education
- High School graduate.
Experience
- Previous Physical Therapy Aide experience preferred
License/ Certifications
- Current American Heart Association BLS Certification
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Good physical health. Ability to perform the physical requirements of position (i.e. lifting, supporting patients)
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Strong organization abilities
- Good time management skills
- Self-motivated
- Strong knowledge of safe practices including proper body mechanics, use of equipment and lift coach, and personal protective equipment
- Strong proactive mindset, self-initiative and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work flexible schedule (evenings, weekends, holidays)

Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $25.38 - $33.50 per hour
The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage.
