Qualifications
- 3 Certificated Reference forms and/or Letters
- Valid Washington State Certificate
- Valid Washington State ESA certification as an Occupational Therapist
- Prior job-related experience
- Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background clearance
- Knowledge of and skills to apply assessment techniques and treatment modalities, relevant education codes, state and district policies, child development patterns, effective communication
- Ability to complete a case study and develop an individual education plan; work independently, be flexible and work under time constraints, work effectively with staff, parents, students, and community
- Working knowledge of rules, regulations, and laws dealing with special education
- Ability to work cooperatively with staff, parents, administration, and support personnel
- Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods, perform a variety of specialized and responsible tasks, maintain records, establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, parents, other school personnel, meet schedule and deadlines
- Significant physical abilities may include lifting/carrying 25 to 50 pounds, pushing/pulling/reaching/handling talking/hearing conversations, near/far visual acuity/depth perception/accommodation/field of vision
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable

Responsibilities
- The job of the Occupational Therapist is to assess students' functional development level; maximizing students' functional level providing information for program development and student placement; improving students' performance, and providing information on child development and/or issues for specific students to instructional personnel
- Assesses students' fine motor skills and development skills for the purpose of determining their deficits and developing recommendations for treatment
- Consults with teachers, parents, other personnel and/or outside professionals for the purpose of providing requested information, developing plans for services and/or making recommendations
- Facilitates meetings for the purpose of developing plans and/or providing information regarding students' functional goals
- Instructs students for the purpose of implementing plans for remediation of functional limitations
- Prepares documentation for the purpose of providing written support, developing recommendations, and/or conveying information
- Presents information on various topics related to professional expertise in occupational therapy for the purpose of communicating information and gaining feedback on treatment issues
- Screens students for the purpose of determining the need for future individualized assessments
- Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities
- Participates in various meetings for the purpose of receiving and/or providing information and/or meeting credential requirements
- Perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation
- Complete work at assigned workstation(s)
- Consistently deals with people in a courteous and professional manner
