Job Description

Speech-Language Pathologist

Reports to: Director of Special Education / Principal

Job Type: Full-Time

Job Summary:

The School Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) is responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and treating students with speech, language, voice, fluency, and communication disorders. The SLP collaborates with educators, parents, and other professionals to support student success in the classroom and facilitate effective communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

Conduct screenings and comprehensive speech and language evaluations.

Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with identified speech and language needs.

Provide direct therapy services individually or in small groups based on IEP goals.

Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other school staff to support academic and social communication.

Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including evaluation reports, progress notes, and Medicaid billing if applicable.

Participate in IEP meetings, parent conferences, and multidisciplinary team discussions.

Provide consultation and support to general and special education staff regarding speech and language strategies.

Stay current with best practices and legal requirements in speech-language pathology and special education.

Qualifications:

Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Communication Disorders.

Valid state license (or eligibility) in Speech-Language Pathology.

Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) preferred; Clinical Fellowship (CF) considered.

State-issued educator certification

Experience in a school setting preferred but not required.

Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.

Working Conditions:

School-based setting; travel between schools may be required if serving multiple campuses.

Follows the school calendar with occasional evening meetings or professional development days.

Requires sitting, standing, and working with children in varied physical and sensory environments.
