Under supervision, supports, develops, and implements age-appropriate lesson plans and activities that promote cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development for students ages 1 to 3. Plans, organizes, and delivers the daily operations of the Early Learners Program in a classroom setting, specifically for the Tiny Tots and Parent & Me Classes.

TASKS
Plans and facilitates developmentally appropriate activities for specific age groups, including but not limited to learning games, arts & crafts, music, storytelling, and sensory play.
Provides various materials and resources for children to explore, operate, and use in learning and play activities.
Teaches basic fundamental aptitudes and skills;
Manages activities such as lesson planning, play breaks, and meal times;
Provides appropriate supervision of children at all times;
Establishes and enforces expected behavior for children, parents, and other participants during program activities.
Maintains children's safety as the top priority.
Prepares setup and cleaning of classroom for daily use;
Manages student enrollment and admissions process;
Coordinates and schedules special activities and field trips appropriate within the program;
Enforces rules and regulations of the program;
Maintains open, professional communication with parents/guardians inside and outside the classroom.
QUALIFICATIONS
A high school diploma or equivalent, two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in early childhood or preschool programming, AND a minimum of 12 completed units in early childhood education or development, with three (3) units pertaining specifically to infants/toddlers.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS
KNOWLEDGE OF program, planning techniques, activity preparation, and registration procedures;
SKILLED IN planning, organizing, and implementing recreational and educational activities; maintaining effective communication with children and parents;
ABILITY TO perform essential duties while exercising sound judgement with little supervision and effectively instruct young children, maintain patience and compassion, and read, write, and speak Spanish is desirable.
THE SELECTION PROCESS
Consists of an application review to ensure that all applicants meet the minimum requirements for the job classification. A select number of qualified applicants will be invited to an interview with the Hiring Authority. All employment offers are contingent on a criminal background review via fingerprint submission for applicants over 18 years of age and provision of evidence of freedom from tuberculosis. Every individual the City employs must complete and sign the US Government form I-9 and provide documentation required by law showing that they are eligible to work in the United States.
