Member of the American Speech and Hearing Association and certified by the Association

Current California License

Current American Heart Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification

One (1) year of experience preferably in a medical setting to include: acute, outpatient or home health settings with adults and/or pediatrics

Responsibilities:

Job Summary

The Speech- Language Pathologist is a qualified professional person who directs, supervises, evaluates, and provides speech therapy services in the acute, outpatient or home setting as prescribed by the attending physician.

Duties

Provides treatment as ordered by the attending physician

Evaluates patient's speech and language abilities, both defects and assets, and performs periodic re-evaluations

Plans and provides rehabilitative services for speech and language disorders

Records type of treatment and patient's reaction to it on clinical/progress notes

Maintains adequate records on all patients, including summary reports

Utilizes community resources and department personnel by proper referral

Selects and administers diagnostic and therapeutic techniques and materials

Instructs and counsels other health team personnel and family members in methods of assisting patient in improving, correcting and accepting disabilities

Attends interdisciplinary team meetings

Prepares visit notes on the day of visit which are incorporated into the clinical record weekly

Participates in staff development activities and In- service education

Participates in the development of and periodic revision of the physician's plan of care

Demonstrates a high level of initiative with patient care

Carries out assignments without direction

Demonstrates accuracy, thoroughness and orderliness in performing patient care assignment

Performs other duties as assigned

Lifting Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, use hands to handle or feel objects. The employee is frequently required to walk or stand, occasionally required to sit, balance, stoop, kneel or crouch. Generally lifting not more than 25 Ibs. and/or carrying objects weighing 10 Ibs. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 Ibs. with help.
