Pulmonary Function Technologist

Under general supervision, performs pulmonary function studies, pulmonary rehab procedures and diagnostic/therapeutic procedures in accordance with physicians orders, protocols and departmental policies/procedures. Maintains adequate records. Follows standard infection control procedures. Performs inservice and teaching. Performs pulmonary function procedures, assuring patient is provided adequate, safe care and accurate testing results.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Upholds Kaiser Permanentes Policies and Procedures, Principles of Responsibilities and applicable state, federal and local laws.
  • Performs diagnostic, therapeutic and rescue procedures.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of the cognitive, physical, emotional and chronological maturation process in delivering services to patients of the age group served.
  • Is responsive to the needs of others, maintaining a professional behavior toward members and co-workers and creating a positive image for the department.

Pay Grade: 07 Basic Qualifications: Experience
  • Graduate of a 2- year Respiratory Care Accrediting Board (RCAB) approved school of Respiratory Care.
Education
  • Graduate of a 2-year Respiratory Care Accrediting Board (RCAB) approved school or be registry eligible.
License, Certification, Registration
  • Respiratory Care Practitioner License (California)

  • Basic Life Support

  • Pulmonary Function Technologist Certificate from National Board of Respiratory Care

  • Respiratory Therapist Certificate from National Board of Respiratory Care
Additional Requirements:
  • N/A
Preferred Qualifications:
  • One (1) year recent experience in computerized pulmonary function lab. Registration by National Board for Respiratory Care. CPR Certification Arterial Blood Gas Certificate.
