Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) Travel Job

We are seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist for a hospital in Ypsilanti, MI. The Respiratory Therapist will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate treatment, care, and needs of patients with breathing disorders. Responsibilities include administering physician-prescribed respiratory treatments, operating and monitoring ventilatory equipment, performing suctioning and tracheostomy care, conducting oximetry and capnography monitoring, performing arterial punctures and pulmonary function studies, assisting with procedures such as bronchoscopy and chest tube care, performing 12-lead EKGs and basic arrhythmia recognition, providing patient education, documenting treatments and patient responses, and participating in shift-to-shift communication and equipment maintenance.

Minimum Requirements:

• Associate or bachelors degree in Respiratory Therapy or Cardiopulmonary Science.
• Current state Respiratory Therapist license in good standing.
• One year of experience as an RRT.
• BLS certification.
• Experience operating and maintaining mechanical ventilators and performing invasive and non-invasive ventilation.
• Competence in arterial blood gas sampling and interpretation.
• Experience with tracheostomy care and endotracheal tube management, including use of video laryngoscope systems.
• Experience performing pulmonary function testing and 12-lead EKG acquisition.
• Ability to perform suctioning, chest physiotherapy, and other airway clearance techniques.

Preferred Qualifications:

• ACLS certification preferred.
• Experience in an acute care hospital setting preferred.
• Prior experience with bronchoscopy assistance and chest tube management preferred.

Assignment Details

• Night (3x12).
• Every other weekend commitment.
• May be required to float to other facilities as needed.
