Canterbury Public Schools is seeking one part-time (20 hours per week) Speech & Language Pathologist to work in a PreK-8th school setting with occasional support for students in the high school or transition setting. The ideal candidate will also possess technical skills including use of electronic data collection and assessment systems, the ability to write highly effective goals, and the ability to help students with speech needs generalize speech and language skills into the classroom setting where they will be used. The SLP will supervise a Speech Language Pathology Assistant. This position is under the direction of the Director of Pupil Services.
Salary: Salary, work year and working conditions will be in accordance with the current contract between the Board of Education and the Canterbury Educators Association. The contract can be found under the Human Resources tab on our website.
Professional Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Analyzing speech and language needs through an equity lens, considering the impact of socio-economics and dual language status
- Valuing an integrated model of service delivery where services are delivered in the classroom when it benefits the student's growth and development
- Valuing speech and language program development and continuous program improvement
- Making critical contributions to the district's MTSS (Multi-Tiered System of Support) process through data driven intervention planning
- Providing direct service according to IEP/504 plan
- Consulting with classroom teachers to assist in implementation of IEP/504 plan and recommend classroom accommodations and modifications
- Communicating with team members, school personnel, and families with a solution-oriented approach
- Maintaining records and documentation as the IEP/504 plan requires
- Conducts thorough speech/language evaluations according to CSDE guidelines, and in consideration of extraneous factors that may present as a speech/language disorder
- Writing IEPs and collecting progress monitoring data on all students on caseload
- Preparing for MTSS/PPT meetings by reporting on intervention data collected.
