Job Description

The East Greenwich School Department is seeking a Speech and Language Pathologist.

Under the general supervision of the Director of Student Services, the person in this position will promote the success of all students by advocating, nurturing, and sustaining a school culture and instructional program conducive to student learning and staff professional growth. The Pathologist ensures management of the organization, operations, and resources for a safe, efficient, and effective learning environment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Demonstrates ability to collaborate with other disciplines to ensure team understanding of student speech and language strengths and needs, through evaluation, educational program planning, and service delivery.

Capability to evaluate the student's ability and formulate the student's speech/language profile through functional and standardized assessments, skilled observations, checklists, histories, and interviews; and a variety of functional, behavioral, and standardized assessments.

Capacity to synthesize evaluation results into a comprehensive written report which reflects strengths and barriers to student participation in the educational environment; direct program development; and guide evidence-based intervention

Ability to develop speech and language intervention plans based on student needs and evaluation results

Capability to participate in multidisciplinary meetings to review evaluation results, integrate findings with other disciplines, offer recommendations, and develop individual education plans and intervention plans to achieve IEP goals.

Proven ability to provide targeted, evidence-based therapeutic intervention to facilitate student participation and speech and language performance within the school environment.

Ability to provide professional development for educators, service providers, and families.

Prepare a master schedule and a program of studies.

Strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to work as a member of a team.

Deep commitment to develop and contribute to a community of educators.

Flexibility, commitment, and enthusiasm.

Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the building principal.

Education and Experience

Required to have a valid SLP license and be in good standing with the state of RI in order to be considered for this position.

2+ years of pediatric experience Master's degree preferred

Display strong interpersonal skills

Able to implement a coaching model when working with families

Able to work in a trans-disciplinary team

Demonstrated time management and multi-tasking skills

General computer proficiency

Citizenship, residency or work VISA in United States required

Tools & Equipment Used

The individual should be familiar with the operation of standard office equipment including, but not limit to, personal computers, and spreadsheet and word processing software.
