Category Therapy - Skilled - SLPA Job Type Contract A Speech Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA) position is available for the 2025-2026 school year in Fredericksburg, VA, supporting K-12 students across multiple itinerant locations. This full-time, contract role operates Monday through Friday, requiring 40 hours per week of in-person work starting August 13th through May 21st. In this role, the SLPA will assist licensed Speech Language Pathologists by delivering individualized intervention services tailored to each student's unique speech and language needs. Responsibilities include administering assessments, scoring tests, preparing documentation, supporting therapy sessions, and collaborating with teachers, parents, and other professionals to optimize educational outcomes. Key Responsibilities: Implement intervention programs designed by supervising SLPs to improve students' speech skills Assist in administration and scoring of assessments for interpretation by SLPs Participate in meetings such as IEP conferences and parent consultations Collect case histories, complete observation checklists, and maintain accurate records Facilitate student transport to therapy and testing locations as needed Communicate effectively and maintain a positive, collaborative attitude within the educational team Preferred Qualifications: Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Speech, Language and Hearing or Communication Disorders Prior experience in a school setting or as a paraprofessional is preferred Training in language and articulation therapy is a plus Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including active listening Willingness to learn and apply new therapeutic strategies This position offers the opportunity to positively impact students' communication abilities while gaining valuable experience in an educational environment.
