A K-12 school in Davis, CA is seeking a skilled Deaf / Hard of Hearing Specialist to support students with hearing impairments. This contract position offers the opportunity to work closely with students, educators, and families to provide specialized services that enhance educational outcomes and foster inclusive learning environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess and identify the unique needs of students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and support strategies
- Collaborate with teachers and staff to modify curriculum and classroom accommodations
- Provide direct instruction and therapy as needed to promote communication skills and academic progress
- Serve as a resource and advocate for deaf and hard of hearing students and their families
- Monitor student progress and adjust interventions accordingly
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and professional development activities
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Certification or licensure relevant to Deaf / Hard of Hearing Special Education Services
- Experience working with K-12 students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Strong knowledge of communication methods including sign language, auditory-oral approaches, and assistive technology
- Ability to collaborate effectively with educators, parents, and multidisciplinary teams
- Excellent assessment, observation, and documentation skills
