Henry Ford Academy is a college prep high school (grades 9-12) located inside the Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation & Greenfield Village and surrounded by the campus of Ford Motor Company. Students come from districts within Wayne County, as well as private, parochial, and home schools. The model partnership focuses some of the best thinking from the business, non-profit, and public education worlds toward the common goal of building a school that prepares students for life in the 21st century.

We are seeking a part-time Speech Therapist to join our dedicated team of educators for the 2025-2026 school year. In this role, you will serve as a primary source of support to students by assessing, helping to prevent, and treating communication disorders and related issues. The Speech & Language Pathologist will provide support in various areas related to speech/language pathology in coordination with other members of the instructional team.

Key Responsibilities:

+ Develop/provide appropriate, direct services to students to support the teaching process through a variety of methods; advocate and facilitate changes that effectively respond to the needs of the student and family.

+ Provide consultation and training to parents, teachers and other school personnel to enhance the learning and adjustment of students and to communicate the need for any adaptations or materials needed to improve the student's classroom performance.

+ Demonstrates knowledge and skills in speech/language pathology and related subject areas (e.g., literacy) and implements services in an ethical manner.

+ Assist in the planning, development and evaluation of programs to meet the identified learning and adjustment needs of students.

+ Collaborates with classroom teachers and other professionals to serve the needs of students in both general and special education.

+ Collaborates with families and provides opportunities for them to be involved in their student's speech/language pathology services.

+ In partnership with the team, determines eligibility and recommends services that are compliant with state and federal regulations for children with IEPs.

+ Maintain appropriate data and documentation to properly assess student progress and performance, and support/participate in data analysis and reporting.

+ Maintain confidentiality of students' data records.

+ Attend professionally related meetings and maintain required professional certifications/ endorsements.

+ Conduct and carry out all other duties and obligations determined by the Academy as being necessary to facilitate its mission, goals, and standards.

+ Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule serving multiple campuses.

Qualifications:

+ Masters' degree in speech and language preferred

+ Teaching Certification in Speech

+ Desire to work with high school students and staff from diverse backgrounds.

+ Experience working with students in individual and group settings.

+ Will maintain confidentiality regarding student behavior and records.

+ Ability to communicate at various levels with students, parents, staff, and volunteers.

Special Skills/Requirements:

+ Ability to work as part of a team in a public school academy that includes teachers, teacher interns, administrators, support staff and volunteers.

+ Self-motivated, multi-tasking ability; able to stay focused in a distracting, noisy environment; ability to work with people in a positive manner; able to keep sensitive information confidential; able to respond effectively and maintain a calm environment in emergencies.

+ Very active high school with two campuses in a unique, vibrant Museum and historical Village setting

Schedule/Working Conditions/Compensation:

+ Schedule: Part-time, 2-3 days a week preferred
